Maintenance and Operations

The Maintenance and Operations staff is responsible for maintaining an attractive, comfortable and safe environment for the campus community. This includes Building Services, Fleet Management, Landscape and Grounds, Maintenance, and Sustainability.

Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance

Our primary function is to provide a comfortable environment for students, staff and faculty. We provide maintenance, repair and installation of building systems. This includes maintaining temperature and humidity control, changing air filters, cleaning mechanical systems, restoring power, maintaining lighting systems and maintaining all plumbing fixtures in and outside of buildings. Our overall goal is to improve the quality of service.

Building Services

Building services prides itself on contributing to a clean and safe campus environment. We strategically manage this task with a combination of dedicated in-house staff and contracted support. Our tasks cover restrooms, corridors and hallways, entrances, offices, classrooms, glass doors and water fountains. We are also responsible for trash removal.

Landscape and Grounds

The Landscape and Grounds team is considered an essential function of the University and therefore maintains contingencies for inclement weather and emergencies. The staff operates a variety of equipment from large haulers and mowers to hand tools to provide an attractive outdoor environment that enhances the learning and work experience on campus. Off-campus locations are maintained by supplemental contractors that are managed by this group.

Fleet and Automotive Services

Our Fleet team provides vehicle services support for the campus as well as servicing grounds equipment. Our goal is to provide exceptional customer service, be dependable with cost-effective vehicles and equipment while providing sustainable fleet operations. We comply with standards developed by DOAS and manage all policies, rules and regulations governing the operation, use, assignment, maintenance, service, repair and disposal of vehicles.

Warehouse

Our warehouse team works with our maintenance and building services teams, supporting their needs for easily obtainable, regularly used materials. They manage a fully stocked warehouse of various types of equipment and supplies. Our customers aren’t just our own people either—if your department needs a part or a tool, we may have what you are looking for, or we can help you shop for it.
